Event Description
- Full Description:
- Director International SOS Director Francesca Viliani is presenting a seminar on 'Beyond safety: Mining and public health'.
Public health should be integral to any mining operation. The contexts in which projects are located generate health challenges that can have serious repercussions on the projects themselves, such as the current ebola outbreak in West Africa. At the same time, public health considerations should be the cornerstone of any corporate social responsibility program. If well-conceived these programs can contribute to local development but often the existing health systems and regulations are not clearly understood.
In this seminar, Francesca will discuss public health and social development issues facing the global extractives industries. Francesca is a specialist in public health and social development. She is Head of the Public Health and Community Health programs for International SOS, the world's largest medical services company.
