Event Description

Full Description:
CSRM Industry Fellow Sharon Flynn is presenting a seminar on 'Everything you ever wanted to ask about social risk and project development'.

Sharon will share her insights into how the social function can be integrated into the order of magnitude and pre-feasibility stages of mining projects. Her focus will be on the La Granja project in northern Peru. This is one of the most significant undeveloped copper deposits in the world. It faces many challenges, including Peru's history of violent conflict around mining development. At La Granja, communities and social performance is being integrated into project design and decision-making.

Sharon is a senior leader in social performance and has worked for Rio Tinto, Newmont Mining, Bechtel, GrupoNueva, Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy.
