What is a CCRE?

Centres of Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE's) are a program initiative by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia. The CCRE Scheme has been initiated to provide funding to support innovative and high quality clinical research in a number of clinical indications. The scheme aims to:
  • Support clincial research with potential to lead to improved health outcomes for the community;
  • Foster training of clinical researchers, particularly those with a capacity for independent research and future leadership roles; and
  • Ensure effective translation of research outcomes into clinical practice.

The Centre of Clinical Research Excellence in Spinal Pain, Injury and Health (CCRE SPINE) is one of 23 centres currently funded by the NHMRC and is the only centre with a physiotherapy indication.
