Research Streams

The CCRE Spine has been established to increase capacity for clinical research into the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions including low back pain, whiplash and headache.  The CCRE Spine currently holds 10 National Health and Medical Research Council (www.nhmrc.gov.au) and Australian Research Council (www.arc.gov.au) project grants. Our research program includes NHMRC funded randomized controlled trials of interventions for low back pain and whiplash, and epidemiological studies of risk factors and predictors of chronicity and treatment outcomes. The CCRE Spine also undertakes research to improve knowledge about the neurophysiological basis of back and neck pain.  
The research streams of the CCRE Spine are:

• Human neuroscience research
• Cervical spine and whiplash research
• Disability and rehabilitation research
• Musculoskeletal pain and injury research
• Neuromechanics research

CCRE Spine staff and researchers are based at numerous sites in southeast Queensland, including a community-based research site at Ipswich. The CCRE Spine provides funding to support and train clinician researchers in hospital and community-based settings. See here for more information.
